Hey sweetie! How's everything been going during lockdown?
It’s definitely been full of emotional ups and downs, but I think it’s been like that for everyone. I know everyone says it, but we really are living through unprecedented times!
How have you been staying inspired creatively?
It’s been tricky, honestly! Everything about life is so different right now and how I stay inspired has had to adjust accordingly. Music is really important to me, but if I put too much pressure on myself (which I often do) it always feels impossible to come up with something new.
What I’ve been doing recently is spending an hour or two everyday experimenting and seeing what I come up with. I’m always working on new music but for now my main focus is to explore my sound as a musician.
As well as that, I’ve also been experimenting creatively by writing a book. I don’t consider myself a brilliant author but it has been really fun coming with ideas for it and I’m excited to see where it ends up!
You have an amazing voice! Have you studied music?
Oh, thank you! I’ve studied music for years now. It’s always been my passion since I was little, I started performing in school musicals as soon as I could. The first music course I studied was a Music BTEC in year 10 & 11. From there, I studied music for two years at A levels and have got an exciting Popular Music course lined up in September!
How long have you been singing for?
Literally for a long as I can remember! It really soothes the soul, I think.
What's your go to genre when you're feeling down?
I don’t think I have a go to genre, but if I want to feel happier I like some alternative pop and if I want to really wallow in it I like sadder music by artists like Marika Hackman or Agnes Obel.

Who's your inspiration for your music?
Artists like Alma, Sizzy Rocket, Kito, Xylo and Tove Lo really inspire me. Bad ass women taking control of their sound is super motivating.
You have a really unique dress sense..who's your biggest style icon?
Aw thanks. I don’t really have a style icon, although I love the way rapper Ashnikko dresses. Mainly, I don’t like dressing like other people. Nowadays, I see so many people trying to dress like each other. I’d rather celebrate our different styles. Alternative and androgynous clothing is my sort of thing - I want to wear stuff that people will see and think, ‘That’s so Cat Rose.’ What's the one beauty product you can't live without? And why?
Lip liner because I am very specific about how I like the shape of my lips.
NYX professional Lip Liner...buy it now from Boots.
What are you loving on TV at the moment?
I’m a sucker for a vampire story (no pun intended!) and one of my favourite series ‘What We Do In The Shadows’ has just released their second season. Finally...any advice for aspiring musicians?
Ooh, that’s a hard one. To be honest, I consider myself an aspiring musician too, I’m still right at the beginning of my own musical journey.
But, I think my advice would be - don’t let anyone tell you you can’t do something. I’ve been told so many times that I should just ‘stick with songwriting’ or that my way of making music isn’t ‘correct’.
Instead of letting those people win, I used their words as motivation to prove them and myself wrong. Ultimately, as long as you’re working hard and doing your best, that’s all you can do. Keep at it and good things should come.
