This week we’re going back to the early 90s for a song I remember from those days when I used to religiously tune in to the top 40 charts on a Sunday on Radio 1.
The track I’ve chosen is a classic rock ballad duet performed by Patty Smyth and Don Henley titled ‘Sometimes Love Just Ain’t Enough’ from 1992.
This was the song that first brought Patty Smyth to my attention, if you follow my @pawartpics Instagram account you may notice that I’m a bit of a fan of Patty Smyth and I’ve created a couple of pieces of artwork inspired by some of her distinctive looks from the 80s. I didn’t really know of her earlier music when this track was in the charts but it’s something I’ve become familiar with in more recent years and which I also really enjoy.
This song also features the amazing vocals of Don Henley originally singer and drummer with the Eagles who also had some success with a solo career. His most famous solo hit ‘Boys of Summer’ is a proper summer tune which you just have to blast out of your car stereo while cruising around on a scorching day.
This track is one of my favourite ballads of all time, the lyrics are kind of sad but it’s still a good one to sing along with.
Have a good one!
Paul
