It's that time again Cupcakers, Thursday Trend Day! This week it's all about menswear. Think greens and browns, lots of camo print and soldier-esque detail...yes that's right. It's Military.
Now being an ex-military kid, this trend hits home for me more than most. My dad was in the Royal Air Force for a long time, and is still in the reserves (albeit on and off). So I'm used to seeing camouflage trousers, royal blue hats and what we would call his 'number ones'- or his dress suit. He wore it when he married married my mum, and for any important ceremonies, etc.
Lots of designers sent models down the catwalk in Military-esque garb for their A/W 2016 Menswear collections, and some of the garments were divine! Here are some of the designer brands that caught my eye in particular.
Burberry has always been known as a quintessentially British brand, and their classic designs have taken more of an urban twist this season. I loved the puffy bomber jackets in khaki teamed with navy blue track suit trousers and suede loafers.
Dries Van Noten took a more formal approach; I'm loving the fur trim double breasted wool coats; They're extra long and give off a Russian winter soldier vibe. When it comes to Military, you mustn't forget the gold buttons!
Finally I love the eye catching reds and exciting checked patterns showcased on the catwalk from Balmain. Teamed with deep black leather trousers, boots and accessories- you end up with a pretty bad-ass military ensemble.
I have picked 3 high-street brands that are selling super-cool Military garb, both in-store and online! All 3 companies have put their own spin on the trend, which is your favourite?
First up is Matalan! This is the department I work in, at the Brighton store , so I have the insiders scoop of what comes in.
