Bonjour Cupcakers!!
I recently watched an episode of Kawaii International, and it was so awesome! I loved learning about Japanese trends and how certain brands interpret said trends- it’s a great insight into the World of Japanese fashion and street style. The presenters were lovely and seemed really passionate about everything they were discussing which is great.
The particular episode I tuned into was about something called Room Wear; it effectively means luxury sleep and lounge wear. It’s far from your scruffiest t-shirt and jogging bottoms- Japanese girls love to almost dress up in their cutest and most Kawaii clothes inside the home whilst they’re watching TV. Or famously, as I found out during this episode, have Pyjama parties. The whole segment was teeming with vibrant colours; the opening sequence I liked especially. It featured a colourful and anime-style animation layered on top of traditional film.
The episode covered various topics, from clothing and fashion to beauty and lifestyle. It’s amazing to see how different brands perceive the subject that is Room Wear; some like to take a more Harajuku approach to it, giving it an edge and wearing pyjama garments outside as normal every day outfits. Some companies and designers like to be more cutesy and Lolita with lace motifs and girly embellishments. It oozes Japanese sophistication and luxury. It honestly makes me want to stay in more, especially at this time of year.
I’ve picked a few high street brands that have the perfect room wear products, varying in price…from dash to cash, from save to splurge; every price range is covered.
Up first is new kid on the block Boux Avenue, this lingerie and nightwear brand does some super cute styles, and I even had my bra size measured there; the staff at the Brighton Store were so lovely!
This long satin chemise oozes sophistication and glamour, and for £45 you know it’s going to last you a fair few years.
This cami and shorts set for £35 is super cute and looks mega comfy! Teamed with a satin dressing down and you have a cute little outfit.
This satin and lace short chemise is super Kawaii. The pastel blue is very wintery; such a sexy little Christmas number!
Next up is trend obsessed New Look. I’ve been shopping at New Look eversince I was old enough to pick my own clothes. I have always loved their style- and their regular re-branding ensures they’re always on the cutting edge of fashion.
This Navy stripey pyjama set is adorable and super comfy. And for £24.99 you know they’re going to last for Christmases to come!
Up next is this beautiful velvet pyjama set, they’re a lovely dusty pink colour and can be worn just lounging round the house. The top is £14.99- the trousers are £12.99.
The final retailer that I chose is the fabulous Debenhams. I have always shopped in Debenhams; it’s an amazing department store with a section for everyone! I love visiting their beauty department and the H by Henry Holland section. Plus their lingerie and nightwear area is always my favourite.
This Ted Baker lace diamante detail cami and shorts set is the perfect night time wear. It’s a dark postmodern version of a Kawaii cute outfit. £40.00
